Fill the Gap
Help "fill the gap" for what it costs
PEB to operate schools and what
families pay in tuition.
Scholarship Fund | Goal $400,000
In the small towns and villages of Pakistan, there are often not schools available. If there is a government-run school in a community, it is typically not safe for Christians or girls to attend. Now, imagine that there is a school in a village that is safe and where the education is really good, but it costs much more than a typical family could ever afford. Most Pakistani families are just barely scraping by to provide basic needs and food for their families, and paying for an education for their children is an unreachable luxury.
The Presbyterian Education Board (PEB) operates 26 schools in six towns and villages and two cities. The Boarding houses at four of these schools allow students from other villages to attend. While this may not be very many yet, PEB is present in places where there are very few other options.
The problem that PEB faces, however, is what to charge students to attend these schools. The team at PEB knows that even the few most financially stable families in the villages cannot afford to pay what it actually costs for PEB to educate their child. So, they charge much less than the actual cost. PEB provides an education to any child, even if they cannot afford it. For some families, even that small, discounted tuition rate is still too much. PEB allows these families in extreme poverty to pay even less, with the hope to cover the educational costs with scholarship sponsors' gifts.
This means that PEB relies heavily on outside donations to cover the costs to operate every school. If the costs are not covered, programs are cancelled, teachers’ salaries don’t increase with inflation, they are not able to buy the equipment they need for science labs, computer labs or classrooms, and, worst of all, they cannot admit any more children because they can’t afford to do so.

Help us raise $400,000 to meet the needs of PEB schools for next year.
We are working to "Fill the Gap" between what it costs PEB to operate and educate the nearly 6,000 students to what those students actually pay in tuition. Some of you give annually to support scholarships already and we sincerely appreciate that but the need is greater than what we are currently raising each year.

ABOUT US
The Presbyterian Education Board of Pakistan (PEB) started in the the mid-1800s by Presbyterian missionaries from the United Presbyterian Church. Today PEB runs 26 schools in the Punjab region of Pakistan with almost 6,000 students in attendance. All schools are dedicated to providing quality education to all individuals regardless of race, religion or ability to pay. PEB schools provide a safe place to learn in harmony, with a student body of 42% Christian and 58% Muslim. Since all faiths learn together and are respected, students learn the values of tolerance, respect, and love -- which lead to a more peaceful society. Many of the students who attend PEB schools come from families who cannot afford education for their children. Friends of PEB operates a scholarship program and building project fund, so that donors around the world can provide financial support to these students.
